D20 - Sported on the Welsh flag, dragons have a number of appearances throughout medieval times. The red dragon only represents one of the many dragons that have been mythologized in Welsh history as well as many variations seen throughout the world.

D12 - A sad story of the Greek gods being cruel, Medusa started out as a beautiful, devoted Athena worshipper, but soon her beauty was compared to gods and Athena didn't take it too well. She is cursed to turn all that look at her to stone.

D100 - In Japanese mythology, Kitsune ("Foxes") are split into two groups: Zenko and Yako. Zenko are messengers of the goddess Inari and Yako are tricksters. As Kitsune age, they gain tails and increase power, with 1000 years giving them nine tails and almost divine abilities. I chose Kitsune for the d100 because their ties to being divine messengers and the die’s usage as luck rolls and divine intervention rolls in D&D.

D10 - Originating from Natives around the great lakes, the wendigo is commonly coupled with the title "spirit of winter" as it can get so cold that some would consider cannibalism for food, which starts the transformation into a wendigo. Beware those who hold greed and violence, as the curse may also be spread this way as well as attract the wendigo.

D8 - This African mythical creature is associated with weather and is attributed to buildings that have reflective or blue roofs being destroyed as having attracted it as it flies, thinking that the roof is water, as it dives in/as a tornado. Many in Africa describe it as invisible, which makes all depictions inherently false.

D6 - In D&D, most parties have come across this staple of gameplay. Similar to the "blob", this ooze creature consumes everything it comes across as the jelly dissolves what is brought into the center.

D4 - A Syrian myth in origin, the mermaid is a half-woman, half-fish creature that is said to be the result of a goddess transforming into a fish, but the other gods would not allow her to give up all her beauty and only the bottom half was transformed.
